Kirklees Most Wanted, run by Saving Grace Inc, has been successfully supporting up-and-coming talent in Huddersfield and has recently expanded into Dewsbury.
Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, the first Dewsbury event took place in February at The Terrace Dewsbury and starred local artists PENNY, Eve Jone, Don Gonzo, and Simon Walker.
The next one will take place at the same venue on Friday March 20, this time featuring Elefem, DuckLin Curls, and Vazon, with DJ support from Fiesta La Ginger.
Once again, this will be a free event, with a dual purpose to make high quality live music accessible to all and provide local artists with a platform to build their audiences and show what they can do. On the cards are:
Elefem: Blending R&B and soul with modern influences, Elefem performs extensively around West Yorkshire and released 4 singles in 2025. She’s interested in pushing the boundaries of genre and is a dedicated songwriter.
DuckLin Curls: Inspired by everything from the raw lyricism of Wu-Tang, the boundary breaking production of The Neptunes and the more introspective reflections of Mac Miller, Curls brings a refreshing voice to UK hip hop and pushes others to grow alongside him.
Vazon: Vazon describes their sound to trying to convert the chaos and noise in their heads to stunning live performances that leave minds blown. They have been described as one of the best live bands on the scene.
Sarah Barnes, managing director of Beerhouses who runs The Terrace said: “We’ve seen the success that Saving Grace has had with Kirklees Most Wanted in Huddersfield and we wanted to make that happen here in Dewsbury too.
"The first event was fantastic, we could easily imagine all these artists making it big (remember you saw them here in Dewsbury when they do!) and we’re sure all the acts coming up on 20th March will be just as brilliant.”
“The Arts Council funding has helped to make these events happen and mean that we can pay the artists a fair fee and make the event free to local music fans too so it’s really a win win!”
