Step up for Sue Ryder with The Great Leeds Walk 2026

Sue Ryder is encouraging people across Leeds to put their best foot forward and sign up for The Great Leeds Walk 2026, returning on Saturday July 11.
Setting off from The Leodiensian Rugby Club in Alwoodley, the much-loved walking challenge invites walkers to explore the city’s scenery, take on a personal challenge, and help Sue Ryder be there when it matters for people needing expert end-of-life care and bereavement support.
Whether walkers choose the 10-mile, 18-mile or 25-mile route, every distance offers the chance to enjoy Leeds from a new perspective, from relaxed rambles to full on endurance tests. All routes will set off at 7am, with participants free to walk at their own pace. Each distance is fully supported with marshals, signage and refreshment stops, and shuttle buses will be available to bring mid-distance walkers back to the starting point.
Michael Tarbatt, Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice, said: “We’re really excited to be bringing The Great Leeds Walk to our supporters for the very first time, and we’d love as many people as possible to get involved.
“If you sign up before 1 April you can secure your Early Bird place for £15, and by aiming to raise £200 you’ll be helping us provide expert care, comfort and compassion for local families facing the most difficult times. Every step you take brings us closer to being there when it matters for people across Leeds, whether that’s at the end of life or through bereavement support. It really does make a huge difference.”
