Dyneley House Chapel Allerton: Inside award-winning Leeds care home where residents ‘feel part of a family’

This award-winning residential care home offering “exceptional care” is based in the very heart of a popular north Leeds suburb.

You’ll find Dyneley House located on Allerton Hill, in Chapel Allerton, the same leafy suburb that was famously named as one of the best places to live in the UK by The Sunday Times in its prestigious guide.

Open to all residents over the age of 65, the care home features award-winning landscaped gardens set against the backdrop of this characterful neighbourhood.

Inside the charming Victorian-era house, you’ll find 22 bedrooms with excellent en-suite facilities; each one complete with its own distinct, original charm.

Laura Clark, the care home’s manager, said: “Here at Dyneley we are so much more than just a care home: we are a family and a community.

“We’re a small residential care home and that means we are in a unique position to offer a personal touch and individualised approach for our residents - in a way that big care homes with dozens of residents simply cannot match.

“Our staff provide residents with the very highest quality of care possible in a secure, relaxed and homely environment where their care, well-being and comfort are always our top priorities.

“We’re a home but we’re also family at Dyneley and we put our residents first in every situation.”

Dyneley House’s Victorian building features a large, spacious lounge and an elegant dining room. Its two sunlight-flooded conservatories, complete with original stonework, overlook the garden with a patio area that is perfect to enjoy those spring and summer months.

All bedrooms are equipped with fantastic en-suite facilities, including showers. Each room has its own original character and unique charm and there are a range of sizes to suit all needs and preferences.

“The home is bursting with charm and character,” Mrs Clark added.

“It is a lovely, small home which enables staff to get to know residents on a personal level while providing really individualised care.”

And, at Dyneley House, the food is prepared and served to the very same high standards as the care its residents receive.

Manager Mrs Clark said: “Here at Dyneley House we offer fresh, home-style food from our own specialist, in-house catering team and brilliant on-site chef. We're able to cater to all dietary requirements and preferences.

“We do lots of baking, serving up everything from birthday cakes and muffins to our ever-popular flapjacks - which are a particular favourite of residents and staff alike.

“Everything here is in-house, from food to housekeeping. And everything is prepared with love, care and attention.”

The care home also offers a wide range of engaging activities, designed to encourage its valued residents to keep mobile and, importantly, to take an interest in life.

There are regular exercise classes to keep fit and healthy, as well as art sessions to stimulate the mind and promote creativity.

It also offers special ‘Reminiscence’ sessions for residents, with changing themes, which aim to evoke memories and get residents talking about their past, treasured experiences and what they did before they arrived at the residential care home.

Overseen by a team of highly-qualified, dedicated care staff and professionals, Dyneley House proudly received an overall rating of Good following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission in February, 2024.

Dyneley House, which is part of the not-for-profit Greendown Trust, is now accepting new residents.

Greendown Trust also oversees Valley Lodge in Ilkley and Stockwell Lodge in Knaresborough - both of which have been operating since 1977.
