Lloyds Bank: major banking group to close 95 UK branches - including 7 closures across Yorkshire
Branches are set to close across the UK, with new shared banking hubs planned to help customers access cash 🏦
A major UK banking institution has announced plans to close a further 95 branches across the UK.
The branches earmarked for closure includes several in Yorkshire, as part of Lloyds Banking Group’s ongoing branch reduction strategy.
The closures, affecting Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland sites, are scheduled between May 2026 and March 2027.
Lloyds has not specified how many employees will be affected by this latest wave of closures, but it has confirmed that all staff will be offered alternative roles within the bank or at other branches.
This is the latest in a series of branch closures for Lloyds. Last year, 136 branches were shut, and a further 49 closures are due by October 2026.
Once all previously announced closures are completed, Lloyds Banking Group will have 610 branches remaining across the UK.

Which Yorkshire branches are closing?
Under the new plans, 53 Lloyds Bank, 31 Halifax, and 11 Bank of Scotland branches will close. In Yorkshire, the affected branches include:
- Armthorpe, Doncaster (Halifax) – March 17*
- Bramley, Leeds (Halifax) – June 15
- Goole (Halifax) – June 17
- Hull Ings Road (Lloyds Bank) – June 15
- Mexborough (Halifax) – March 15*
- Shipley (Halifax) – June 9
- Thornaby (Halifax) – June 17
Closure dates marked with an asterisk may be subject to change due to plans for shared “banking hubs.”
What are banking hubs?
To maintain access to cash, 14 new locations nationwide will be converted into banking hubs.
These are shared spaces run by staff from different banks on different days. They allow customers to withdraw and deposit cash, pay bills, and access other essential banking services even if a traditional branch is closing.
A spokesperson for Lloyds said: “Customers want the freedom to bank in the way that works for them and we offer more choice and ways to manage money than ever before.
“From our leading apps and 24/7 messaging service to local banking options like our community bankers, PayPoint and access to all of our Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland branches, we’re giving our customers the flexibility to bank wherever and whenever they need us.”
