Pet owners in one Yorkshire city are set to gain easier access to veterinary care later this month as Pets at Home expands its national network with a new practice
The new site in Stocksbridge, north Sheffield, operated under the retailer’s veterinary brand Vets for Pets, will provide routine appointments and specialist treatment for local animals, forming part of a wider £3m investment in new petcare facilities across the UK.
In total, Pets at Home is opening four locations this month, adding more than 20,000 square feet of new space.
Alongside the Stocksbridge veterinary practice, the company is launching sites in Giltbrook, Kew and Glossop as it grows both its retail and clinical services.

The Stocksbridge practice will occupy a 1,410 sq ft unit and aims to increase access to veterinary care for pet owners in the area. It will offer preventative healthcare, general treatment and referrals for more specialist services when needed.
The investment reflects Pets at Home’s strategy of combining veterinary services and retail in one place.
The company currently operates around 460 stores nationwide and works with more than 450 Vets for Pets practices, many of which are located inside its shops.
Anja Madsen, chief operating officer at Pets at Home, said expanding the company’s physical network remains central to its plans.
She said the business wants to create modern petcare centres where owners can access everything from expert advice and health services to food and specialist products in a single visit.
Veterinary services are also proving to be a growing part of the company’s business. While Pets at Home’s retail arm has faced weaker performance in recent months, its veterinary division has continued to expand, reporting rising consumer revenue and profit.
The company says the latest investment reflects increasing demand from UK pet owners for convenient veterinary care, preventative health services and in-person advice as more households seek ongoing support throughout their pets’ lives.
