- The relaunch is part of its ‘Everyday Low Prices’ scheme, capping prices on 3,000 branded items
- Popular products include Fairy washing up liquid, Heinz baked beans, PG Tips, Weetabix, and Lurpak butter
- The move adds to Tesco’s Aldi Price Match and over 10,000 lower Clubcard prices
- Research shows most shoppers stick to favourite brands, highlighting the value of keeping them affordable
The UK’s biggest supermarket is bringing back its iconic blue-and-white striped Value logo, signalling a new phase in its ongoing price battle with Aldi.
The stripes, which disappeared from Tesco shelves in 2012, are set to return as the visual symbol of low prices on popular branded products.
The Value logo was first dropped in 2012, with the Guardian reporting at the time that Tesco had “ditched its blue-and-white striped Value label in favour of a new softer brand” as a way of trying to “relieve consumers of the embarrassment of buying the cheapest products on its shelves”.

What’s changing for shoppers?
For shoppers, the move isn’t just a nostalgic nod, it comes with tangible savings. Tesco has pledged to cap the prices of 3,000 branded items as part of its “Everyday Low Prices” initiative.
Among the products included are household staples like Fairy Original washing up liquid, Heinz baked beans, PG Tips teabags, Weetabix, and Lurpak Slightly Salted Spreadable butter.
As an example, shoppers can now pick up Fairy Original 320ml for 90p, a 12-pack of Weetabix for £2, and Heinz baked beans 150g for just 60p.
Keeping favourite brands affordable
Tesco says the initiative is designed to make sure the nation’s favourite brands remain affordable week after week.
Tesco UK chief executive Ashwin Prasad said: “Our most-loved brands don’t just have a place in our shopping baskets – they hold a genuine place in the nation’s heart.
“That’s why we’re committed to keeping prices consistently low on thousands of branded products through our new Everyday Low Prices.”
The move comes on top of Tesco’s existing Aldi Price Match scheme, which covers more than 650 lines, and over 10,000 lower Clubcard prices, giving shoppers multiple ways to stretch their budgets.
The retailer’s research suggests customers place high value on their favourite brands. A survey conducted for the launch found that nearly two-thirds of shoppers (64%) had at least one brand they would never consider swapping, while 31% could think of several.
The top five most-loved items from a list of 50 products included Coca-Cola, Cadbury’s Hot Chocolate, Fairy Original, Branston Pickle, and Heinz baked beans.
