It’s one of the biggest centres in Yorkshire and has seen a lot of changes over the years - and when we asked readers on the Yorkshire Evening Post Facebook page about the new openings they want to see, a lot was revealed about who was doing their shopping at the centre, and how spending habits have shifted.
The demand for affordable options like Home Bargains and Poundland aligns with a wider 2026 retail trend where consumers are looking for more experience and value from their physical shopping trips.
While major brands like M&S, JD, and Primark have recently doubled their footprints to create mega-stores, the reader feedback suggests a gap still exists for middle-market and discount variety retailers that can make a family's budget go further.
Admittedly, though, we did get a chuckle with the number of responses that were simply “shops to be open at all,” while others are still holding out hope for the big return of two beloved, sorely missed high street chains.
Here are the 17 shops that you want to see open at White Rose Shopping Centre sooner rather than later.

1. TK Maxx (13%)
By far the most popular suggestion, readers are desperate for a large-scale TK Maxx to fill the void left by departing department stores. Many pointed out that its "treasure hunt" style of shopping for designer labels and home goods is exactly what the centre is currently missing. | SWNS - Leeds SWNS.com

2. Lego Store (9%)
Families and adult fans alike are calling for a dedicated Lego hub. Supporters mentioned that it would provide a much-needed interactive element to the mall, similar to flagship stores found in other major UK cities. | Mark Bickerdike

3. Home Bargains (8%)
Affordability is a major theme for YEP readers, with Home Bargains topping the list for variety stores. Shoppers want a place to grab household essentials and seasonal décor without breaking the bank. | Submit

4. Woolworths (7%)
The ultimate nostalgia pick, many readers are still holding out hope for a return of "Woolies". While the brand is no longer on the high street, the desire for its famous pick 'n' mix and toy aisles remains incredibly strong in Leeds. | Mike Cowling

5. Bershka (7%)
A massive hit with the younger generation, Bershka is frequently requested by parents who are tired of traveling into the city centre. Its arrival would significantly boost the "trend" factor for teenage shoppers at the White Rose. | Supplied

6. Debenhams (6%)
The loss of this department store is still felt deeply by local shoppers who miss the "one-stop-shop" convenience. Many comments emphasized a need for a store that houses multiple beauty and fashion brands under one roof. | James Hardisty
