First look at multimillion-pound Leeds United transformation - with improvements for fans and players

Some of Leeds United’s hospitality and training spaces look different following a huge redevelopment project

A Yorkshire interior design company has completed a major transformation for Leeds United to enhance its hospitality, corporate, and player facilities across Elland Road and the club’s Thorp Arch training ground.

Design Tonic, a long-standing design and build partner of the football club, has delivered approximately 30,000 sq ft of new and refurbished space.

Carried out within the demanding closed-season window, the latest works have been designed to support the club’s ambitions both on and off the pitch and coincide with the continued development of plans for Elland Road.

Head of IT and facilities at Leeds United Football Club, Mark Broadley, said: “This has been a particularly important project for us, supporting the next stage of development at Elland Road while ensuring our hospitality guests continue to receive a high-quality experience. At the same time, the improvements at Thorp Arch enhance the everyday environments available to our players and Academy.

“The completed spaces look fantastic and provide an excellent platform as the club starts the new Premier League season.”

A central element of the programme has been the full design and build of a new 20,000 sq ft temporary hospitality marquee at Elland Road, providing high-quality hospitality facilities while the new West Stand is redeveloped.

The facility incorporates four individual hospitality suites with capacity for approximately 1,000 guests.

Design Tonic, which is now an official Leeds United Business Club Partner for the new season, has delivered a series of significant upgrades throughout Elland Road including the creation of a new President’s Lounge, a new Chairman’s Guest Lounge, and the refurbishment of the club’s reception and boardroom.

Each space has been developed in line with Leeds United’s established visual identity, while reflecting the club’s ambition to enhance its facilities and hospitality proposition as it entered its latest chapter in the Premier League.

The programme of works has also extended beyond Elland Road to the club’s Thorp Arch training ground, which now has a new Academy canteen and boot room, and a refurbished player’s canteen.

Design Tonic co-founder, Amanda Cook, said: “Our relationship with Leeds United has developed over seven years, so we have a strong understanding of the club, its brand and the expectations of its guests, players and staff.

“Each of these new spaces have been designed to create a consistent sense of quality across the Leeds United estate, and we are very pleased with the final result.

“I’m also immensely proud of our team and the hard work that has gone into delivering such a significant programme of works in a short timescale.”
