A MAJOR technology-based business is moving into part of a former department store building in Leeds.

Emovis, a global specialist in toll-based mobility services across Europe and America, has signed a 10-year lease with a five-year break for 12,459 sq ft of space in Broad Gate.

Built in 1932, Broad Gate was formerly the home of Lewis’s, the first department store in Leeds, and then became Allders.

The Leeds office of global property consultancy Knight Frank brokered what is one of the largest office deals in Leeds in the past year.

Knight Frank’s Victoria Harris, who advised Emovis, said: “This is a very important deal, underlining the quality of Broad Gate.” The 300,000 sq ft mixed-use development comprises Grade A office space and a suite of penthouse offices, together with four retail units.

Raza Bashir, of Emovis, said: "The move reflects our long-term commitment to investing in the region and building a strong presence in Leeds.”
