GP and skin care clinic to open at New Era Square as Sheffield’s most diverse district keeps growing

New Era Square, the modern East Asian-inspired district just off London Road, is about to get even busier. A brand new NHS Medical Centre and a premium skin care clinic are the latest to join its growing community of businesses, residents and international visitors.

Just five minutes from Sheffield city centre, New Era Square is already known for its rich cultural mix and home to the city’s largest oriental supermarket, street food kiosks, cocktail bars, student flats and creative offices. It’s one of Sheffield’s most vibrant places to eat, live and work. Now, it will also be home to vital healthcare and wellbeing services, completing the holistic eco-system at New Era, a place where people can find all their daily needs within easy walking distance.

Steel City General Practice has relocated from Shoreham Street to newly fitted clinical premises at 5 New Era Square, Sheffield, S2 4BF. With additional support from Sheffield City Council, this move has enabled the development of a modern NHS medical centre that more than doubles the size of the previous site. The new facility offers five consulting rooms, one treatment room, a dedicated minor surgery suite, and services tailored to support students and young families in the area.

This move reflects the wider transformation of Sheffield City Centre, which is seeing substantial growth in residential accommodation. As more people move into the city centre, the need for accessible, high-quality healthcare increases and the new GP surgery is here to meet that growing demand. The practice will also offer some Saturday clinics and extended hours on one Monday evening each month to provide additional flexibility for patients.

Josie Matthews, Practice Business Manager at Steel City General Practice, said: “This move allows us to expand our services and better meet the needs of our patients. The facilities at New Era Square give us room to grow and improve how we deliver care to the community.”

Jerry Cheung, Managing Director at New Era Development, said:

“New Era was always about building a community, not just buildings. The arrival of the GP and Neo Skin Clinic shows we’re creating a place where people can live well, eat well, and access services that matter. We are proud to be part of Sheffield’s changing story.”

Also opening nearby is Neo Skin Clinic, a new destination for personalised skin care and non-invasive aesthetic procedures. Designed for both locals and students, the clinic will provide trusted treatment options in a central, accessible location.
