Here's how a Leeds woman built a thriving Pilates business by sticking to her core values

“We’ve created a genuine community where people feel comfortable, connected and leave feeling better than when they arrived.”

Inviting. Accessible. Enjoyable.

These are the core values of Elethea Studios, one of Leeds’ most popular Pilates studios.

The business began in Seacroft in 2024 and it has quickly become a go-to spot for locals looking to build their confidence and sense of community through exercise.

Holly said: “Our classes are welcoming, supportive and completely free from judgement.

“We focus on expert teaching in beautiful spaces, but just as importantly, we’ve created a genuine community where people feel comfortable, connected and leave feeling better than when they arrived.”

Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise which focuses on balance, strength, and posture.

Originally created by Joseph Pilates during World War I as a form of rehabilitation following injury or illness, it’s now one of the fastest growing workout methods and the Pilates and yoga industry is worth £1.1 billion in the UK alone.

Holly believes the increase in popularity is rooted in the easily modifiable nature of the practice, which makes it widely accessible.

“People are becoming much more aware that movement isn’t just about burning calories - it’s about feeling strong, moving well and looking after your body for the long term.

“Pilates offers a sustainable form of exercise that improves strength, mobility and overall wellbeing, making it appealing to people of all ages and fitness levels.”

In just two years, Elethea Studios has grown from strength to strength, and now there are branches not just in Leeds but in York, Wakefield, Harrogate, and Halifax.

Just this week, she opened her sixth studio in Hull and Holly described the response from new and existing clients as “incredible”.

Holly said: “Hull felt like a natural next step because we saw a real demand for high-quality Pilates and wellness experiences in the area. We wanted to bring the same premium studio environment and expert-led classes that our other communities have embraced.

“It’s been wonderful to see people so excited about having an Elethea studio in Hull, and we’re already building a fantastic community there.”

Elethea Studios offers a range of Pilates classes based on mats or reformer machines.

With select pre-natal, post-natal, and men’s only classes, Holly is using her business to show how Pilates can work for everyone.

Holly believes that Elethea Studios’ careful attention to detail in their high quality classes, makes it stand out amidst an increasingly popular Pilates industry.

“We’re incredibly passionate about raising the standard of Pilates, with exceptional instructor training and carefully programmed classes that have real purpose behind them,” Holly said.

“Alongside that, our focus on community, beautiful studio spaces and creating an experience, not just a workout, is what people tell us keeps them coming back.”

Holly’s Pilates journey began while she was recovering from an injury following the birth of her daughter.

Quickly falling in love with the workout, she decided that she wanted to create a space to provide the same confidence-boost to others.

Now, as Elethea Studios continues to thrive, Holly invites anyone to give Pilates a try.

Holly said: “Whether you’re completely new to Pilates or have been practising for years, our classes are designed to challenge and support you at your own level.

“We’d love people to come and experience the Elethea difference for themselves—expert instruction, a welcoming community and movement that leaves you feeling stronger, more confident and energised.”
