Kirkstall Bridge Inn: This Leeds pub wants to open until 3am to show England's World Cup matches on huge outdoor screen

A pub in Leeds is bidding to extend opening hours until 3am during England’s World Cup matches.

England’s fixtures take place on June 17, June 23 and June 27.

The Kirkstall Bridge Inn has applied for temporary event notices to open from 5pm to 3am for the matches.

However, an objection from the Environmental Health Services noted the close proximity of the pub to other residents.

“Therefore, it is my view that the external events proposed and the late-night opening hours over two weeknights and one weekend are extremely likely to cause noise nuisance to nearby residents from loud music, loud sports noise, and noise from loud football fans being outside until 3am", the objection states.

“This department therefore has concerns that the licensing objective for the prevention of public nuisance will not be met should this proposed event take place and thus is formally serving notice that we object.”

A maximum of 450 people would be in attendance and food would be served during the matches, the application states.

The application will now be decided on May 26 at the sub committee at Leeds Civic Hall.
