A Leeds family are “absolutely honoured” after the two children’s play centres they own and operate were nominated for national awards.

The Hidden Village, which operates venues in Leeds city centre and Keighley, has been shortlisted in the Family Business of the Year category at the Club Hub Awards 2026, while its newly opened sister company, The Hidden Castle, has achieved finalist status in three categories: Attraction or Venue of the Year, Independent Business of the Year, and Family Business of the Year.

In addition, The Hidden Castle is also a finalist for Best Role Play in the Association of Indoor Play Awards.

The Hidden Village was founded in 2023 by husband and wife Greg and Frankie Owens, alongside their daughter Ruth. Following Greg’s tragic passing just seven months after opening, Frankie and Ruth have continued to grow and develop the business.

Their expansion includes a second venue in Keighley and the launch of The Hidden Castle in Skipton, a medieval-themed role play centre. Each location offers a thoughtfully designed role-play environment, providing immersive and engaging spaces for children to explore.

Frankie Owens said: “We are absolutely honoured to be shortlisted for these awards, which recognise and celebrate excellence in the children's play industry across the UK. With only four to six finalists in each category and such strong competition, including previous winners and runners-up, it means a great deal to receive this recognition.

“It is especially exciting for our newest venue, The Hidden Castle, to be named a finalist in several categories, including Best Role Play and Best Attraction or Venue, just six months after opening. We are passionate about creating high-quality play experiences for families, and we are incredibly proud to have reached this stage.”

Tessa Day, Founder of Club Hub UK, added: “Huge congratulations to all our 2026 finalists. The children’s activities sector is full of passionate and inspiring business owners, and it is fantastic to celebrate their achievements and the positive impact they have on children and families across the UK.”

Winners will be announced at the Club Hub Awards event in Birmingham today (Saturday, May 9), and at the Association of Indoor Play Awards on June 4, 2026 at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.
