Leeds United: Tommy Wass pub set for £220,000 revamp before Nottingham Forest game at Elland Road

A pub which has been popular with generations of Leeds United fans is set to enjoy a new lease of life.
The Tommy Wass pub on Dewsbury Road will be closed from January 5 for a £220,000 revamp by Heineken owned Star Pubs, before reopening under new management on February 5, in time for Leeds United’s home game against Nottingham Forest on February 7.
A spokesman said the refurbishment will lead to an improved layout, enhanced sports facilities and a smarter décor.
As well as live sports and competitive socialising like darts and pool, local sports teams will be encouraged to use the pub post practice and games. The changes will also see local publican Demi Hurley take on the management of the pub on behalf of Star Pubs.
She said: “The Tommy Wass has a lovely feel to it, but needed investment to create a top quality local where people want to socialise.”
Star Pubs Business Development Manager, Jay Weir, said: “We’re delighted to be upgrading The Tommy Wass, creating somewhere the community can enjoy.
"The investment will take the pub to a new level whilst retaining its character.”
