Quiz clothing: in store sales and discounts expanded after high street fashion chain fell into administration

Administrators say trading has been “extremely positive” as further markdowns roll out 👀

  • Quiz fell into administration for the second time in under a year in early February
  • More than 100 redundancies have been confirmed after a tough Christmas
  • All 40 stores remain open, with bigger in-store clearance discounts now live
  • The retailer’s website has closed, meaning stock is only available in shops
  • Administrators are seeking a buyer to secure the chain’s future

Shoppers hunting for a bargain may want to head out onto the high street sooner rather than later, as one struggling fashion chain ramps up discounts across its remaining stock.

Clothing retailer Quiz fell into administration on February 5, triggering more than 100 redundancies following what it described as a difficult Christmas trading period.

It marked the second time in less than a year that Quiz has collapsed into administration, but despite the insolvency process, all 40 standalone stores remain open for now.

Administrators from Interpath say trading has been “extremely positive” since their appointment, with customers continuing to visit stores as clearance activity gathers pace.

But the company’s online store closed immediately after administrators stepped in, meaning shoppers can no longer place orders via the website.

Instead, remaining stock is only available in-store, where additional markdowns are now being applied to clear inventory.

Alistair McAlinden, head of Interpath in Scotland, confirmed that further reductions will be introduced across all remaining lines. The move is designed both to maximise returns from existing stock and to maintain momentum while a buyer is sought.

Administrators are actively inviting interest from potential purchasers for the business’s stock, store operations and infrastructure. Any sale could help preserve jobs and secure the future of at least part of the chain, though no deal has yet been announced.

For customers, the key takeaway is that stores are still trading, but the situation remains fluid. Gift cards and returns policies may be affected during administration, so shoppers are advised to check terms in-store before making purchases.

The coming weeks will be crucial. If a buyer emerges, Quiz could continue trading in some form.

If not, the stepped-up clearance sale may signal the final opportunity for shoppers to pick up discounted occasionwear and party outfits on the high street.
