A popular UK high street name could soon be facing another moment of truth, and shoppers may be wondering whether their local store is safe.
Quiz, the fast-fashion chain best known for partywear and occasion dresses, is once again racing to secure fresh funding after a bruising year for bricks-and-mortar retailers.
The brand, which employs around 1,000 people and operates more than 40 UK stores, has reportedly been hit hard by weaker-than-expected Christmas sales despite a stronger summer.
Christmas is a critical period that many retailers rely on to carry them through the year.

Like many mid-market fashion brands, Quiz has found itself squeezed from all sides: online-only giants such as Shein and Temu continue to undercut prices, while costs linked to wages, national insurance, energy bills, and business rates keep climbing.
Behind the scenes, the company’s founders – the Ramzan family – are said to be weighing up their options, reports The Sun.
Advisers could be brought in to explore new financing arrangements, potential restructuring and, if necessary, further store closures.
Sources suggest several turnaround funds have already shown interest in injecting new capital to keep the business afloat.
This is not the first time Quiz has had to take action. The chain closed 23 stores in February 2025 as part of a pre-pack deal, with the family buying back the remaining assets to stabilise the business.
Quiz was founded in 1993 by entrepreneur Tarak Ramzan and was once tipped as a major challenger to online fashion powerhouses such as Boohoo.
Could more Quiz stores close?
While no further closures have been officially confirmed, the risk remains very real.
With high streets under pressure and several well-known chains already falling into administration, more rationalisation across retail looks likely.
Quiz itself has acknowledged “volatile trading” and pointed to disappointing festive sales, alongside wider economic pressures affecting the entire sector. For now, shoppers can still browse Quiz stores and shop online as normal.
But as the company assesses its next steps, the coming months could be decisive in determining whether the brand can survive, or whether more UK high street locations may soon disappear.
