Thorpe Park Leeds: Major new logistics and manufacturing development set for approval

Leeds City Council's East Plans Panel has resolved to approve plans for a major new logistics and advanced manufacturing development at Thorpe Park Leeds.

Named Integral, the scheme will be capable of providing up to 596,500 sq ft of high-specification industrial, logistics and advanced manufacturing space.

The 60-acre scheme will be delivered by Scarborough Group International (SGI), with Developers stating that the scheme has the potential to support around 1,700 new jobs.

The outline planning application will now progress to completion of a Section 106 legal agreement, after which the formal planning decision notice will be issued.

Adam Varley, development director at SGI, said: “We are delighted that Leeds City Council's East Plans Panel has resolved to approve plans for Integral.

“This is a truly game-changing development that will further strengthen Thorpe Park Leeds as the leading business hub in the region. This project is a key milestone in our long-term vision for the wider estate, bringing new employment opportunities and reinforcing the area's economic significance.”

Integral is set to be situated on Brown Moor, adjacent to the award-winning Thorpe Park Leeds and The Springs retail and leisure destination.

SGI said 42 per cent of the site will be retained as green space, preserving existing woodland and hedgerows and introducing new landscaped areas to enhance biodiversity.

Mr Varley added: “The scheme has been designed with sustainability at its core to set a new benchmark for modern industrial development.”

It comes after SGI announced last week that its plans for a new purpose-built sixth form college at Thorpe Park Leeds, could provide up to 1,000 post-16 places to help meet demand across East Leeds.

Subject to planning approval and approvals from the Department for Education, SGI will deliver the new 90,000 sq ft, four-storey facility in partnership with Willmott Dixon and Delta Academies Trust, who will operate the college once completed.

Speaking on the scheme, Andy Barnett, CEO at Delta Academies Trust, said: "We are delighted to share more detailed plans of our Post-16 Free School at Thorpe Park in East Leeds.

“Our vision is to create a centre of excellence where students can access an ambitious curriculum, outstanding teaching and a rich programme of personal development, enabling them to progress confidently into higher education, apprenticeships and employment.”

Once complete, the college is expected to offer a curriculum combining A Levels with technical and vocational routes, including T Levels and V Levels, supporting progression to higher education, apprenticeships and employment.
