Popular Leeds wine bar Veeno expands with new North Yorkshire restaurant

Popular Leeds wine bar and kitchen Veeno is expanding with the launch of a new venue in North Yorkshire.
The eatery, which is based at Wellington Place in Leeds, will open in Northallerton's Treadmills development next month, bringing its Italian-inspired experience to the town.
Located in Northallerton's former prison, the new restaurant is owned and operated by Chris Fernandes, who purchased the franchise from Veeno founder Nino Caruso.
Guests will be able to enjoy wines from Nino's family vineyard in Marsala, Sicily, as well as sharing boards featuring meats and cheeses from specialist Italian suppliers, alongside fresh pasta, pizza and cocktails.
Speaking about the opening, owner Chris said: "I'm thrilled to be bringing Veeno to Northallerton. Treadmills is an outstanding development and we're proud to be part of what is becoming a fantastic destination for the town.
"Northallerton has such a strong sense of community, with people who genuinely appreciate great food, drink and hospitality. We believe Veeno will be a fantastic addition to the town and we're looking forward to welcoming guests through the doors this September.
"Whether you're meeting friends after work, celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for somewhere to enjoy fantastic wine and authentic Italian food, we want Veeno to become a place people love visiting time and time again."
Founded in Manchester in 2013, Veeno has six sites in the UK - Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Durham, Edinburgh, and Leicester - and one in Poland, all of which feature menus and a carefully curated wine list centred around Caruso & Minini, a historic Sicilian vineyard established by Nino's great-grandfather.
"From the very beginning, Veeno has been about sharing authentic Italian hospitality, exceptional Sicilian wines and creating places where people can come together over great food and drink," said Nino.
"Chris shares those values completely and we know he'll create something truly special in Northallerton. We can't wait to welcome guests and introduce the town to everything that makes Veeno unique."
Veeno Northallerton is set to open in September 2026.
