Whitehall Riverside: Work finishes on new Leeds centre tower blocks providing 500 homes
Property firm Glenbrook and funding partner L&G have announced the completion of a new 500-home development in Leeds.
Named Tura, the new build-to-rent development is located at Whitehall Riverside in Leeds city centre.
Constructed by Bowmer & Kirkland and designed by Sheppard Robson, the development is made up of two buildings of 19 and 16 storeys.
The scheme has achieved Gateway 3 approval under the Building Safety Act, one of the first residential developments in the country to do so.

Speaking about the delivery of the new scheme, Daniel Roberts, development director at Glenbrook, said: “The completion of Tura marks a key stage in the delivery of the Whitehall Riverside masterplan.
“To be among the first new-build developments to successfully pass through the Gateway process demonstrates the professionalism and dedication of the project team in working collaboratively with the Building Safety Regulator.”
The development provides a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments, including 25 apartments which will be made available at a discount to Market Rent.
Resident amenities are located across the ground and first floors including residents’ lounges and roof terraces, shared workspace and state of the art gym.
The scheme also incorporates public realm improvements along the River Aire, including new landscaped areas, open green space and upgraded pedestrian and cycle routes.
The announcement comes after a report released last week by JLL found that Leeds had recorded £281m of investment into its build-to-rent market last year, cementing the city’s position as the UK's third largest regional BTR market outside London.
JLL's Big Six Residential Development Report found that a total of £1.3bn has been invested over the last five years into the Leeds build-to-rent market, compared to less than £400m in the preceding five years.
The city now has 11,300 homes either operational or in development, with a further 900 homes expected to complete in 2026.
These include Ila and Ridgeback's Triangle Yard and L&G's Whitehall Riverside.
Speaking on the findings, Tom McWilliams, head of Leeds and the North East at JLL, said in a statement: "Leeds has quietly built the third largest build-to-rent market outside London.
“The record levels of capital flowing into the city validate everything we've been saying about its potential.
“The combination of affordability and a young, mobile workforce creates exactly the rental demand profile that institutional investors look for.”
