Was it worth bringing back Ted Lasso? Screen Babble’s verdict plus autumn TV highlights

Has Apple TV made the right decision to re-hire Ted Lasso? Find out!

After a record-breaking summer, a chill has suddenly started to creep into the air and that can only mean one thing. Autumn is almost upon us.

While it might spell the end of languid evenings spent in pub beer gardens or catching the rays on the beach, it does mean that we are back in peak TV time. The giants of British tele are preparing to awaken from their slumber and make staying in on cold nights worth it.

However, there is change in the air for both The Great British Bake Off and Strictly Come Dancing. Last year saw Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly depart the iconic BBC dance show and a whole new presenting trio will be stepping onto the dance floor.

It is one that we here at Screen Babble towers will certainly be keeping our eyes on. Emma Willis will be joined by comedian Josh Widdicombe, no relation, and Strictly favourite Johannes Radebe who is switching his dancing shoes for the microphone.

The Great British Bake Off will have a new face stepping into the iconic tent this autumn following the departure of Prue Leith. And her replacement couldn’t be more legendary if they tried - the inestimable Nigella Lawson.

It promises to be quite the autumn of tele for British audiences and that’s before we even start with The Celebrity Traitors. Screen Babble will be across all things Traitors once the doors to the castle are open again.

But two of the biggest stories on TV right now involve an ending and a resurrection. The Bear has come to an end after five seasons on Disney Plus.

The shutters have been pulled down at the restaurant and doors have been yelled for the final time. Screen Babble has touched on the final season briefly, but it's time to dive deep into the ending.

Did The Bear stick the landing or is it yet another show to join the long list of disappointing finishes (cough Game of Thrones)? Listen to the full episode to hear Kelly and Matt’s verdict.

Meanwhile, Ted Lasso has risen from the grave and returned to Apple TV. Matt was not a fan of the original ending of the Emmy winning comedy series but can it make a good second impression?

The show has had a slight soft reboot, and Matt will talk you through it all. Find the latest episode of Screen Babble wherever you get your podcast episodes.
