Bafta TV awards ceremony: See No Evil pips Educating Yorkshire to best Factual series win

Educating Yorkshire has missed out on a Bafta as fellow Channel 4 show See No Evil scooped the best Factual series award at this evening’s glitzy ceremony in London.

The eight-part documentary series, which returned to Dewsbury’s Thornhill Community Academy for a superb second run last year, was also up against ITV1’s The Undercover Police Scandal: Love and Lies Exposed, and Sky Documentaries’ Bibaa & Nicole: Murder in the Park.

Stars from the world of television, including Alan Carr, Claudia Winkleman and Steve Coogan, gathered at Royal Festival Hall in the capital for the prestigious ceremony.

The awards, presented by comedian Greg Davies, started live at 4.30pm before being delayed for broadcast on BBC One at 7pm.

The second series of Educating Yorkshire aired 12 years on from the end of the original series, which was also filmed at the Valley Drive school, and addressed the modern day challenges faced by both teachers and pupils, covering topics such as the use of AI, anxiety and exam stress, the struggles resulting from COVID-19, and the management of disruptive behaviour.
