Guiseley School pays tribute to 'much-loved' student, 18, after horror Baildon crash over Christmas period
Tributes have been by the school and rugby team of a “much-loved student” in Leeds who died in a car crash over the festive period.
Sid Brook, 18, died after the grey Ford Fiesta he was driving crashed into the garden of a property in West Lane, Baildon, in the early hours of Saturday, December 20. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Sid was a former student at Guiseley School, which has today (Monday) provided a tribute to the “great classmate, loyal friend and great team-mate” as students return to schools after the Christmas break.

The statement reads: “It was with great sadness that we shared the news with staff and students today that Sid Brook had tragically passed away whilst we were on our Christmas break. Sid was a much-loved student of Guiseley School, only recently completing his Year 11 in 2023.
“He was a great classmate, loyal friend, and great team-mate on the sports field. He still has a number of friends in the school who will miss him greatly, particularly in our current Year 13 cohort and friends across the school who knew him as a team-mate at Aireborough RUFC.
“Our thoughts are with Sid’s family and friends. Sid will always be remembered and loved.”
A tribute was also paid to Sid from Aireborough RUFC, where he had been “putting on the shirt with pride since Under 9s”.

It read: “From those early mornings on muddy pitches to the friendships, laughs, and memories made along the way, Sid grew up within this club and left his mark on all of us.
“He wasn’t just a teammate; he was a friend, a brother, and a true Wolf. His commitment, spirit, and presence around the club will never be forgotten, and his memory will live on every time we gather, play, and support one another.
“Our thoughts are with Sid’s family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him during this unimaginably difficult time.”
A short statement was also shared by Sid’s family that read: “He was a beautiful son, brother, cousin, grandson, nephew and friend to many. A hard-working cheeky chappy, who was deeply loved by all who knew him.”
A 17-year-old girl was seriously injured in the collision and four men were arrested in connection with the collision before being released on bail.
West Yorkshire Police have been contacted for an update.
