New Leeds nursery promising 'seamless transition' into reception to open at Middleton Primary School

A new nursery promising a “seamless transition” into Reception is set to open at a primary school in Leeds.

Middleton Primary School, located on Middleton Park Avenue in south Leeds, has announced the opening of a brand-new school nursery, offering high-quality early years education for children aged three and four in the LS10 area and surrounding communities.

Part of the Cockburn Multi-Academy Trust, the purpose-built nursery has been designed specifically to meet the needs of young children, providing a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment where pupils can learn through play and develop strong foundations for future learning.

Mrs Tissiman, Headteacher at Middleton Primary School said: “We are incredibly proud to be opening our own nursery within the school. At the heart of our provision is a commitment to providing a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported to thrive.

“We work closely with families to ensure every child gets the best possible start to their education.”

Flexible funded places are available from September 2026, including 30-hour full-time provision from Monday to Friday, as well as 15-hour part-time places offered across two patterns: Monday to Wednesday morning, or Wednesday afternoon through to Friday. This flexible approach aims to support families with varying childcare and work commitments.

As part of an established primary school, last rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in November 2022, the new nursery will be staffed by experienced and fully qualified Early Years professionals and promises a seamless transition into Reception.

Children will become familiar with the school environment, routines and staff, helping them to settle quickly and feel secure when they move into full-time education.

Applications for places are now open and families interested in applying for a nursery place are encouraged to contact the school directly for an application form or to arrange a visit.
