How to donate to the Leeds Hospitals Charity Play Appeal

The YEP are looking to raise £40,000 which is enough to fund a year of play sessions

Play in Healthcare week is shining a light on the vital role specialised play can have in helping children cope with treatment in hospital.

The Yorkshire Evening Post is supporting Leeds Hospitals Charity’s Play Appeal, we’re aiming to raise £40,000, enough to fund a year of sessions delivered by a Play Specialist and help protect the seven-day-a-week service at Leeds Children’s Hospital.

More than 11,000 children were admitted to Leeds Children's Hospital last year, with specialist Play Specialists delivering an average of 338 therapeutic play sessions every week.

The team helps children understand procedures, manage anxiety and cope with the challenges of being in hospital, while also providing support and reassurance to their families.

Stories from young patients including Jenson and Emma have shown the difference the team can make, with both describing their support as a fundamental part of their hospital experience.
