'She is so special': Proud parents welcome first baby to be born at Leeds General Infirmary in 2026
It was New Year to remember for this Leeds family with the arrival of their baby girl.
The little girl, whose name hasn’t been shared yet, was due to make an appearance on New Year’s Eve.

But her proud parents Shirin and Jamshid knew that she would be a New Year’s Day baby.
And to make the delivery even more special she was the first baby born at Leeds General Infirmary in 2026 making an appearance at 2.42am delivered by midwife Isabel.
The little one weighed in at seven pound and ten ounces.
Proud mum Shirin said: “When her due date was December 31, I always knew she would be born on January 1.
“The fact that she is the first baby born in Leeds in 2026 is so special to our family".
In a post on Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust Facebook page the new arrival was given a special welcome with staff saying: “Congratulations everyone and welcome to the world little one!”
