Dogs Trust in Leeds has several dogs and puppies and these are the ones currently up for adoption this Christmas:
1. 1. Alfie
Alfie is a two-to-five-year-old male ex-racing Greyhound who has finished his racing career. To say he has never lived in a house before his kennel is always spotless and he should be easy enough to house train (if he isn't already). Alfie loves people and is always happy to say hello to everyone with a lick and a waggy tail. You'll need to hide the biscuit tin though as likes to get his nose in to EVERYTHING! He gets on fine with similar looking dogs but can be a bit vocal with smaller fluffy dogs. This is likely due to his natural chase instinct and would benefit from continuing his dog socialising once settled in to his new home. Alfie should be fine with children over 12. He cannot be left on his own yet so will need his owners around all the time for as long as it takes for him to feel secure. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
2. 2. Biggie
Biggie is a dog who enjoys lots of fuss and attention. He's 5 years old and friendly with everyone he meets. He is perfectly manageable around other dogs out and about but isn't keen on them getting in his face so he prefers to walk in quieter places and will need to be the only pet in his home as isn't one to share the limelight! He enjoys playtime with his cuddly toys and loves his food. Sadly he doesn't enjoy travelling in a car so he'll need easy access to nice walking areas directly from his home. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
3. 3. Dottie
Dottie is a vibrant Boxer that is coming up to six years old. Dottie is dog social, but she is very worried about unfamiliar people and she needs to follow an introduction plan in order to get to know the new people in her life. Dottie has been rehomed and returned due to her behaviour around people she doesn't know, so because of this, we're looking for experienced dog owners who are looking for a bit of a project! Dottie has been working really hard with the training team and now she is ready to meet her new family and step out into the world. Dottie loves meeting dogs out and about, but she will need to be the only dog in the home. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
4. 4. Arieo and Putee
Borzois are a rare sight. These two dogs are huge and are used to having their own paddock to run around in. Their new owners must have the space to accommodate them and also a big car. Arieo (4) and Putee (3 1/2) have a close bond so would need to be homed together. They can be a handful to walk especially if they see another dog so will need at least a two person household in a quiet area as the only pets. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
5. 5. Buddy
Buddy is a little dog who will need to live in an adult home as the only pet so that he can get all the attention to himself. At 13 years young, the Jack Russell Terrior prefers a quieter environment but still loves a walk (preferably when the weathers nice)! He likes to make his voice heard at times so needs a bit of patience especially at meal times and when travelling. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
6. 6. Champion
Outside Champion is a big solid lump of dog but on the inside he's the softest pudding around when it comes to fuss and affection. He's a very playful lad and loves his toys. He is tolerant of other dogs but prefers two legged friends so doesn't want to share his home with any other pets. Typical of his breed he has a high prey drive and his muzzle training is coming along well to keep him safe when out and about. He would benefit from a little additional training but he loves his food so this will make it much easier. He's very eager to please when there's a tasty treat in store! He is a Lurcher aged two to five-years-old. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
