It’s been a challenging year for the hospitality industry, but the resilience of the people behind Leeds’ food and drink scene has shone for all to see.

Amidst the businesses we’ve lost and stories of hardship, we’ve celebrated dozens of fantastic new openings across the city in 2025.

From neighbourhood cafes expanding into the city centre and an independent bakery launching its biggest venture yet, to two Leeds pub giants collaborating to lovingly restore a historic boozer, these new restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars have all got us talking this year.

India Bistro opened on Harrogate Road in Chapel Allerton on December 1 - following months of renovation work at the former Aagrah site. It's the first UK branch from the UAE and India-based restaurant brand, serving authentic Indian dishes and bold cocktails. From the bustling lanes of Delhi and Punjab to the royal kitchens of Awadh, the menu celebrates regional dishes from across India.
