Birria Birria Leeds: Much-loved Mexican eatery announces takeover of former Greasy Pig

A Mexican food spot which promises “the best tacos in Leeds” has announced it’s moving to a new home.

Birria Birria will relocate from Moortown Rugby Union Football Club to 74 Victoria Road, Headingley - taking over a former cafe.

Greasy Pig Eaterie went up for sale in February last year with an asking price of £155,000.

The announcement of Birria Birria’s new location comes one week after their original site in Moortown closed its doors for the final time.

In a post on Instagram, Birria Birria said: “We are taking over the old Greasy Pig.

“We are very excited to re-open & we will announce the open day shortly, keep your eyes peeled.”

An official opening date has yet to be announced.

Birria Birria is a Mexican takeaway brand with menu options ranging from tacos to burgers to even a quesadilla pizza.

The Deliveroo-exclusive brand is popular amongst many Leeds locals with an average of 4.9 stars on Google.

Reviews praise the takeaway’s “flavoursome” food options, “kind” staff, and “quick” service.

Before revealing their new site, Birria Birria encouraged online fans to predict where the new location will be with guesses ranging from Horsforth to Chapel Allerton to Manchester.

However, when Headingley was finally announced as Birria Birria’s new base, many voiced their delight with one user commenting “so exciting!!” and another saying “catch me in the first queue.”
