Freight Island confirmed as operator for Trinity Leeds' £15m Trinity Kitchen expansion
Trinity Leeds has confirmed Freight Island as the new operator for its expanded Trinity Kitchen.
The £15 million redevelopment will convert 15,000 square feet of previously unused space above the food court into a larger, multi-level dining destination featuring a rooftop terrace overlooking City Square.
Construction is scheduled to begin in late spring 2026.

Freight Island, which opened in Manchester’s Depot Mayfield in 2020, will bring a mix of independent food traders, live music, DJs and cultural events to Leeds.
The operator is set to launch a second site in Newcastle later this year, with Leeds being its fourth site.
Steven Foster, Centre Director at Trinity Leeds, said the expansion will mark the “most exciting chapter yet” for Trinity Kitchen, transforming it into a “spectacular multi-level dining, entertainment, and leisure venue” and offering “exciting opportunities for new brands and operators” to join the community.
Dan Morris, Managing Director of Freight Island, added: “Trinity Kitchen is an iconic Leeds destination... Food will remain at the heart of the venue, with menus driven by independent chefs and operators, alongside DJs, sports, performances and events showcasing local talent.
“We’re thrilled to bring Freight Island here and create a space that supports independent traders, generates jobs and adds something truly special to the city.”
