I tried Leeds' poshest breakfast for £50 | Danny Malin column
In his latest food escapade, Danny Malin tries out Leeds poshest breakfast at Laynes coffee shop to see if it’s worth the £50 bill.
Most people will have walked passed this coffee shop when heading into Leeds from the train station or like me after parking at Trinity Leeds car park.
It’s always busy and I wanted to find out why. It can hard to find a free table here, but as ever for my food review on my YouTube channel Danny vs Food, I took my own camping table and chair to sit outside.
I ordered two flat whites, a Yorkshire rarebit with Henderson’s Relish, a Full English breakfast and French toast. All together it cost just under £50.
The scrambled eggs were the best I’ve ever had
The meat breakfast includes a Yorkshire sausage patty and streaky bacon, which as a former butcher I can tell you tastes top notch as they use good quality meat. Even mushrooms are those posh portobello mushrooms cooked to perfection.
Their home made beans were a first for me but wow they’re a game changer as well as the parmentier potatoes. The scrambled eggs were the best I’ve ever had.
Then the Yorkshire Rarebit with alcohol and Henderson’s Relish which is basically posh cheese on toast was just a delight to be had with a kick from the alcohol. The French toast, rarebit and meat breakfast were all next level, I had to give it a solid 10.
