I visited a Leeds bar that's worth going out of your way for – and the pints were a bargain
We visited on one of the hottest evenings of the year 🍺
Some bars are worth seeking out, and The Attic is definitely one of them.
Sitting just beyond the city centre in Sheaf Street, near The Tetley, it's a little further than your typical after-work stop, but don't let that put you off.
The walk is well rewarded, particularly as this corner of Leeds continues to evolve into one of the city's most interesting hospitality destinations. With so much development happening nearby, it feels like an area to keep a close eye on over the coming years.

We visited on one of the hottest evenings of the year, making it the perfect excuse for a couple of post-work pints in the sunshine.
The bar was relatively quiet, but rather than feeling empty it added to the laid-back atmosphere. It was easy to settle in, relax and let the stresses of the working day drift away.
As luck would have it, we had picked one of only two days of the week when food isn't served. Wednesdays and Sundays are the exceptions, so it's worth checking before you visit if you're hoping to eat.
Still, with crisp cold pints in hand and a packet of crisps on the table, it was difficult to complain. There are few better combinations on a warm summer evening.

The beer selection is another reason to make the trip. There was a strong showing from local breweries, including several beers from Kirkstall Brewery, alongside a welcome alcohol-free option on draught, something that is still surprisingly uncommon.
Between us, two rounds of drinks and snacks came to under £25, which felt like excellent value. In a city where quality pints are increasingly nudging past the £6 mark, it was refreshing to find somewhere keeping prices sensible without compromising on choice.
Although it was a quieter evening, the walls tell a different story. Posters advertising everything from live music to roller discos suggest that The Attic has a very different personality when events are in full swing. It is clearly a venue with a strong community feel and plenty happening throughout the year, giving us more than enough reasons to return.
Next time, I'll be making sure it's on a day when the Middle Eastern kitchen is open, as the menu looked every bit as tempting as the drinks list.
