Karen Wright: Tasty spaghetti dish rustled up for You Tube viewers
Last week when I was staying up at the caravan, I had a very enjoyable time filming a cooking session for a You Tube channel.
Mick and Cath are keen motor homers who have a channel called 'Our Turn Now' where the document their adventures while away on their travels. I first met them earlier in the year, and I gave them a copy of my book Meals on the Move a Campsite Cooking Journey as I thought they would enjoy trying the recipes and reading the stories.

Since then, we have met on the campsite a couple of times but last week we got chatting and decided to make a video together. It was during the heatwave, so we knew we would have to film quite early in the day to be comfortable plus before the other campers were up and about. I set up the cooking station and gathered all the ingredients for the recipes I wanted to make. I chose Spaghetti Puttanesca with a side of Bruschetta as I was confident that I could make them in the time we had available.
Bruschetta is very simple, a slice of griddled bread with garlic oil and then a generous topping of freshly sliced tomatoes. The Puttanesca uses mostly store cupboard things namely tinned tomatoes, anchovies or Worcester sauce, capers, olives and herbs plis a fresh onion and garlic. In the time it takes to cook the spaghetti, the sauce is made and then you combine the two and hey presto dinner is ready.
As it was eight in the morning when we cooked it was breakfast time really, so we boxed up the spaghetti for later, but we ate the Bruschetta there and then and boy did it taste good! We had a few curious glances from some other early risers as they made their way past us to go to the shower block, I hope that they get to watch the video, which is now live on YouTube, it is a fun thing to see and now we have succesfully teamed up together we hope to do more recipes in the future. If you would like to see the video search 'Our Turn Now' and if you enjoy it, please subscribe to the channel, I am sure you will love the content that Mick and Cath publish. If you make the dish yourself, I wish you a 'Bon appetito'!
