'Exceptional': I visited Latitude Wine Bar in Leeds - and it's still one of the city's best
Latitude Wine Bar has long been one of Leeds’ go-to destinations for serious wine lovers, and one look at the shelves explains why.
The selection is vast, stretching across regions and styles in a way few venues in the city can rival. On a recent visit, it felt like the perfect spot for a relaxed catch up with a friend, particularly with a newly launched menu giving us even more reason to explore.
The atmosphere is dark and inviting, with a low-lit, cosy feel that makes it easy to settle in and lose track of time. It strikes that ideal balance between intimate and lively, with a gentle buzz from surrounding tables adding to the charm without ever becoming intrusive.

We were keen to explore the updated menu, and it did not disappoint. The range on offer was impressive, giving the chance to sample wines that might usually be reserved for a full bottle commitment.
Our selections averaged around £7 for a small glass, which felt more than reasonable given the quality. Between us, we worked our way through two whites and two reds, each one reinforcing why Latitude has built such a strong reputation. It is rare to find such depth and variety available by the glass, and it makes experimenting far more accessible.
To accompany the wine, we ordered a snack of pickled vegetables, which turned out to be one of the highlights of the evening. Bright, punchy and perfectly suited to pairing with wine, it was simple but brilliantly executed.
At just £2.50, it felt almost unbelievably good value and easily ranks among the best bar snacks I have had in the city.

Service throughout the evening was exceptional. Staff were knowledgeable, attentive and genuinely enthusiastic, happy to guide us through the menu while leaving us space to enjoy our drinks. It felt polished but never formal, exactly what you want from a wine bar of this calibre.
While wine is clearly the star of the show, it is far from the only attraction. The spirit selection is extensive, and we spotted multiple tables sampling whiskey flights, while a large group nearby were enjoying wine flights paired with cheese boards that looked particularly impressive.
Latitude continues to prove why it is one of Leeds’ best-loved wine destinations.
