Leeds city centre’s Three Legs pub covered in scaffolding during maintenance work
‘We would like to thank our customers for their patience while we conclude the works’
Scaffolding has gone up at the Three Legs pub in Leeds city centre as the long-running drinking den undergoes “essential” maintenance.
Sharp-eyed locals quickly noticed the striking terracotta exterior that stands out on The Headrow had been covered by scaffolding earlier this week.

Addressing the issue, a spokesperson assured punters that the Greene King pub would continue trading as usual during the maintenance work.
The spokesperson said: “The pub is currently undergoing some essential maintenance work that we expect to be finalised in the coming weeks.
“The pub is open and trading as usual and we would like to thank our customers for their patience while we conclude the works.”
The Three Legs is perhaps one of the city’s best-known drinking dens and remains one of our readers’ favourites, thanks to its karaoke nights and what returning customers describe as “one of the only proper old-school pubs in Leeds”.
It has developed something of a rough-and-ready reputation over the years - an image licensees Debbie and Shaun Fountain have been working hard to change.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post last year, the duo, who took over the pub almost 16 years ago, said it had developed a “really bad reputation”, culminating in it nearly having its licence revoked after a violent incident in February 2024.
They said at the time: “We had 700 signatures from customers wanting to keep it open, which showed the authorities how much people love this pub.
“We’ve taken a more hands-on approach since and have built a really good relationship with the police and licensing committee.
“We’ve worked really hard to get rid of that reputation and the clientele it brought with it. We’ve now got completely new staff who are fantastic.”
