Award-winning 'secret' speakeasy-style Leeds bar The Maven announces closure
An award-winning speakeasy-style cocktail bar in Leeds has announced that it will close later this month.
The Maven on Call Lane has announced that it will close on Friday, March 28, having been listed for sale in November last year.
A statement from the venue reads: “From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for being our guests over the years and promise that until then, we’ll do our best to give you the best nights out on Call Lane.”

The venue said that it had enjoyed “years of late nights, strong cocktails, and incredible stories”, adding: “Rest assured every booking will be honoured. Every cocktail poured properly.
“The lights stay low. The music stays on. We’re not done yet.
“Thank you for being our guests - we hope you'll join us for the final chapter and celebrate all things Maven this month.”
The leasehold for the Victorian brick-built, mid-terraced property was listed for sale in November for £175,000.
The venue opened in 2012 and built a reputation as the city’s best ‘secret’ cocktail destination, having previously been named the ‘Best Kept Secret Bar’ in the UK by The Bottle Club. In the 2022 National Pub & Bar Awards, The Maven was awarded the County Winner for West Yorkshire, recognising it as the best bar in the county.
Our reviewer visited in 2023 and praised the “sophisticated cocktails” as well as the “elegant Gatsby-style décor and old-school charm”.
