Michael O'Hare teases tantalising return to Leeds dining scene with new restaurant plans
Leeds’ top chef and Great British Menu judge is set open a new restaurant after almost a year away from the city’s culinary scene.
Michael O’Hare has teased a tantalising return to the city on Instagram with a new “super intimate” venture in Boston Spa.
In Lamentation is billed as a “new restaurant, small team, big vision” with 16 covers and four services a week.
The chef is known for pushing boundaries with its unconventional food, service and design.
He opened The Man Behind The Curtain in 2014 and it was the only restaurant in Leeds to hold a Michelin Star.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post at the time, Michael added: “I’m incredibly grateful for it, it’s one of the reasons that I personally have been so successful.
“The reason the restaurant was so big internationally for so long was because of that beacon of the Michelin star.”
Psycho Sandbar opened in March last year and closed its doors a few months later in October.

Mr O’Hare said on Instagram at the time: “I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved over the last decade. We’ve had some amazing moments and I’m so thankful to everyone that has played their part, either as guests or as part of the team.
“The decision is very much based upon my exciting plans for the future, but is reflective of the changing experience market we all live in.
He added: “We've achieved so much and Leeds will always be so special to me, l'm honoured to have played my part in the culinary history of this great city.
“'I'm excited for the future and the next steps in my journey."
