New Irish pub to open in Leeds city centre as Society bar transformed
Signage has appeared at the Society bar on Swinegate as Temple Irish Tavern prepares to open
A new Irish pub is set to open in Leeds city centre this summer, with signage appearing at the Society bar on Swinegate.
Eagle-eyed residents may have noticed the venue is being transformed into Temple Irish Tavern, with distinctive green branding now displayed in the windows.

It is not yet clear whether Society has closed for good or moved to a new location - the YEP has contacted the bar for further details.
The rebrand is already underway, with window signage reading: "Temple Irish Tavern. Coming June 2026." A website has also gone live, promising "Live music, great drinks, late night craic".
A post on Instagram reads: "Swinegate… we’re coming for you. A brand new Irish bar is on the way, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on.
"Think great pints, proper Irish charm, and the kind of atmosphere that keeps you out longer than planned. No gimmicks - just good craic, great drinks, and even better nights."

However, with work still ongoing and July beginning tomorrow, it appears the venue has missed its planned June opening.
It now seems unlikely that Temple will be serving Guinness before the end of the month.
The YEP has contacted the operator for more information.
