The refurbishment will also create three new jobs in the local area.

Commenting on the Mediterranean restaurant's new look, General Manager Megan Myers said: “We’ve been working hard to transform our existing space into a Mediterranean haven where guests will feel like they’re on holiday - all without leaving Shadwell.

“The changes that are currently underway are all centred around creating an environment that is rooted in warmth, generosity, and bold flavours.

“The whole team and I are thrilled to welcome everyone in Shadwell and Leeds to escape to the Mediterranean at Ego at The Wellington.”

Ego at The Wellington in Shadwell will reopen on August 21.
