'Thank you for all the memories': Praise pours in for much-loved Leeds pub as it confirms closure
The pub will shut for good on Sunday
Praise has poured in for a much-loved Leeds city centre pub, after it announced its permanent closure this weekend.
Tapped will shut its doors for the final time tomorrow (Sunday June 28). The team said it was “the right time to call last orders on this chapter” as its lease approached renewal.
The American-style brewery pub has been a fixture of Boar Lane for more than a decade, and locals have shared their fond memories of visits following the news.

Dave Brown said Tapped was a “great little bar with great selection of beers and nice pizzas”, while Richard Rhys Lloyd shared: “I love Tapped. So very sad. Great range of drinks and very pleasant, informative staff. Such a shame.”
Richard Jones said: “I tried what was billed as 'the world’s hottest pizza' there, made with weapons grade chilli. Ended up rolling around floor of toilets of pub opposite in agony and rang my dad to say a last goodbye. Happy days.
Angela Lester added: “Another Leeds independent business lost. Sad times.”
Another customer said: “Tapped was always on our list to visit due to the wide variety - you will be missed by so many who appreciate good beers.”
Tapped was recognised in the Campaign For Real Ale (CAMRA)’s Good Beer Guide for its wide variety of beers on draught.
Its management said they were “incredibly proud” of the role they’d played in Leeds’ independent beer community, as they thanked customers and staff in a heartfelt post.
The city’s hospitality leaders have just this week issued a stark warning of the pressures threatening the industry’s future, with Leeds chef and restaurateur Matt Healy describing the the situation facing independents as “blooming difficult”.
Eleanor Gilmartin echoed these concerns, and said: “Too many bars and restaurants competing, overheads too high, prices too high, cost of living too high, add in transport and a night out in the city is very expensive nowadays when everyone is being squeezed. Sadly more to follow no doubt.”
Another customer added: “Very sad to read this. A great place with great staff, fantastic beer and some of the best pizza around. Thank you for all the great memories.”
