Everyone is judging your next move, and there’s a high chance you’ll end up exactly where you started.
We asked you on the Yorkshire Evening Post Facebook page where the most romantic spots in the city are, and the results were a perfect Leeds cocktail of genuine class and world-class banter.
For every person who suggested a candlelit Parisian bistro or a hidden jazz club, there was someone else ready to suggest a karaoke session at the Three Legs or a romantic stroll through a Beeston quarry.
But it’s a testament to the city’s character that we can’t even talk about true love without someone mentioning a £10 supermarket meal deal or the strategic benefits of a Wetherspoons exit plan.
However, amongst the jokes and the ‘my gaff’ invitations (we’re washing our hair, sadly), a clear picture emerged of what a Leeds date night actually looks like.
Whether you’re after the wow factor of a malachite floor and cherry blossoms or the quiet intimacy of a wine-and-cheese board in the Corn Exchange, the city has a habit of providing the goods, provided you managed to book your table well in advance.

7. The Ivy Asia
If you want a date with a wow factor, The Ivy Asia is hard to beat. It is famous for its theatrical dining room and incredible malachite floors. It is the ideal choice for a Valentine’s date that is as much about the vibrant, energetic atmosphere as it is about the food. ❤️ 55 Vicar Ln, Leeds LS1 7JH | Simon Hulme

8. Wetherspoons
While our readers often suggest 'Spoons' as a tongue-in-cheek joke, it does have a practical side. In a cost-of-living crisis, it remains the most affordable date in town. Plus, for those on a nervous first date, the constant crowds provide the perfect cover for a 'great escape' if the sparks aren't flying. ❤️ Multiple locations | Google Maps

9. Tesco
Another popular joke from our comments, but there is a genuine romantic argument to be made here. A home-cooked meal can be far more personal than a busy restaurant. Picking up a dine-in deal and putting in the effort at home allows for a private, thoughtful evening away - maybe don't drag your significant other along for the shop? ❤️ Multiple locations | Simon Hulme
