Leeds has earned its reputation as an undisputed food capital of the North, but as any local diner will tell you, the appetite for new flavours is never quite satisfied.
Following the responses on the Yorkshire Evening Post Facebook page, it is clear that while our city is packed with talent, there are still a few glaring omissions in our culinary landscape.
While there were some calls for more Wetherspoons, we were surprised also that one US fast-food chain was namechecked over In-N-Out Burger, demonstrating that some locals know their international fast food scene.
From cult American imports to much-missed British classics, these are the 11 names that the people of Leeds are most eager to see opening their doors.

7. Raising Cane’s
Another US heavyweight on the wishlist is Raising Cane’s, a chain that has achieved cult status for one thing: high-quality chicken fingers. Reader George Graham is hoping for a taste of their famous secret sauce. The brand’s hyper-focus on doing one thing exceptionally well has made it a viral sensation, and many feel it would be a guaranteed hit with the Leeds student population. | Getty Images

8. Fireaway Pizza
Recommended by Georgia Oliver, Fireaway is known for its "fast-fired" philosophy. With ovens that cook a pizza in just 180 seconds, it caters to the busy city dweller who wants the quality of an authentic Italian stone-baked base without the wait time associated with a traditional trattoria. | Local Library

9. Almost Famous
Known for their "dirty" burgers and incredibly loud aesthetic, Almost Famous is a name that Mark Smith feels is missing from the local line-up. Their menus are famous for being unapologetically over-the-top, featuring burgers piled high with everything from Frazzles to pulled pork, catering to those who want a meal that is as much an event as it is a dinner. | Maps

10. The Beefy Boys
This multi-award-winning burger outfit has already conquered the Midlands, and reader Mike Ham is urging them to "hurry up already" and make the move to Leeds. Using 21-day aged grass-fed beef, they have built a reputation for providing some of the best-constructed burgers in the country, winning national accolades and a dedicated following of "beefy" fans. | Local Library

11. Brewski
Described as the "North West home of soul food," Brewski has received multiple votes from readers like Charlotte Faye and Michelle Haynes. They are famous for their massive "Mate Dates" - giant sharing platters of poutine, fried chicken, and ribs - that are designed for social dining. It is a concept that seems perfectly tailored for the Leeds appetite for communal, indulgent comfort food. | Google
