Salon Madre Leeds: New opening date confirmed for Mexican tequila bar and pool hall
A new opening date has been confirmed for a tequila bar and pool hall arriving in Leeds.
Salon Madre, which has made a name for itself with outposts in Manchester and Liverpool, will open in Wellington Street on Friday February 20. It had been due to open in December, before the date was pushed back into the new year.
The new bar promises DJs, pool tables, and Lucha Libre wrestling on the big screens. The menu will celebrate tequila and mezcal, with a drinks list stacked with frozen, classic, and flavoured margaritas, palomas and more.
The food menu is built for sharing, including al pastor tacos, gringas, burritos, and street food favourites picked up on the team’s travels.

Its sister venue, day-to-night Mexican restaurant Madre, will open at a later date. The new openings mark the brand’s expansion into a third city in the UK.
The founders - Sam Grainger, Owain Williams, Chris Edwards, Nud Dudhia, and Chris Whitney - are also behind venues such as Belzan, Doug’s, Winsome, Ambers, Sister Ray, and Breddos.
Co-founder Sam Grainger said: “Mexico is alive with passionate artisans and cooks, mastering everything from street tacos to regional delicacies. It’s a world where traditions blend and evolve, and we’ve built that ethos into the heart of both Madre and Salon Madre."
Madre will celebrate what Chilangos call sobremesa, the art of lingering at the table long after the last dish.
By day, the 100-cover restaurant will be a laid-back spot for leisurely lunches. By night, it will transform into a lively Mexican restaurant serving everything from Oaxacan-inspired moles and salsas to Baja-style mariscos and Sonoran grilled meats.
