'A huge loss to the city': Popular Leeds city centre pub confirms shock closure
‘End of an era’ 💔
A Leeds city centre bar has confirmed it’s shutting its doors for good, leaving customers “gutted.”
Tapped, which opened in Boar Lane over 12 years ago, will close for the final time tomorrow (Sunday June 28).
The business, which was a popular choice for its craft beer, real ale and stonebaked pizza, said it was “the right time to call last orders on this chapter” as its lease approached renewal.

In a statement made on social media, the Tapped Leeds management said: “From the very first pint poured on Boar Lane, we’ve been lucky enough to welcome thousands of amazing customers through our doors.
“Whether you joined us for a quick pint after work, discovered a new favourite beer from our ever-changing taps, watched our brewers at work, or shared one of our freshly made pizzas with friends - you’ve all helped make Tapped what it became.
“We’re incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved: the beers we’ve brewed, the friendships made, the team members who’ve been part of the journey, and the role we’ve played in Leeds’ brilliant independent beer community.”
The American-style brewery pub opened in December 2013, and boasted its own Czech decoction microbrewery.

It was a popular choice with Leeds United fans enjoying a drink before kick-off, and was recognised in the Campaign For Real Ale (CAMRA)’s Good Beer Guide for its wide variety of beers on draught.
Praise has poured in for the pub following the announcement, with one customer calling the news “a very, very sad loss tob town.”
Another added: “Gutted to find out earlier in the week. Always been one of my favourite bars in the town centre. Such a shame it's closing down.
“One of the first for decent beers along with North Bar, Mr Foleys and then later on Head of Steam Mill Hill, the bar at Tapped always had a good range of real ales and craft beer on keg and will be missed. End of an era.”
“Huge loss to Leeds,” another regular said. “You’re our go to place. We loved everything about you.”
Tapped encouraged customers to visit for a final beer or pizza this weekend to give the pub “the send-off it deserves”.
