Two Leeds curry restaurants crowned among Britain’s best in national food awards

Leeds is officially home to two of the UK’s best curry restaurants🍛

Two curry houses in Leeds have been named among the UK’s top 100 by the Asian Catering Federation (ACF).

Selected through public voting and recommendations from the ACF’s expert judging panel, the restaurants received their awards at the ACF Prestige Dinner and Top 100 Award Ceremony at the House of Commons last month.

Leeds-based Lala’s Restaurant, on Bradford Road in Pudsey, and MyLahore, on Cavendish Street, both secured spots on the prestigious list.

They were joined by Akbar’s and International Restaurant in neighbouring Bradford, as well as Jaipur Spice in York.

No stranger to accolades, Lala’s has picked up a number of awards over the years, cementing its status as one of the city’s favourite restaurants since opening in January 2020.

The restaurant launched shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic but has since become a firm favourite with diners across West Leeds.

In fact, Lala’s and MyLahore have previously won prestigious awards together, including at the 2023 Asian Restaurant Awards, where they were named Best Asian Restaurant in the North of England and Best Asian Fusion Restaurant respectively.

As well as its branch on Cavendish Street, just off Kirkstall Road, MyLahore has long-running sites in Bradford, Birmingham and Blackburn. The restaurant serves traditional dishes with modern twists, alongside milkshakes, pasta dishes and a range of indulgent desserts.
