With dozens of new developments appearing all over the city, the face of our city is constantly changing.
Over the last few years, we’ve seen major redevelopment at Leeds’ South Bank, the world’s tallest student purpose-built student accommodation, and the demolition of a city centre shopping centre.
With many more developments planned, under construction, or near completion, we’re taking a look at nine major developments reshaping Leeds in 2026.

1. Leeds City Station
Although plagued by delays, the £46m redesigned main entrance to the railway station is now expected to finally be completed by summer 2026. Once completed, the entrance will feature concrete steps, a new clock tower, and taxi ranks. | Iconic Photo: Simon Hulme

2. Triangle Yard
One of the city's most eye-catching developments, the peculiarly shaped Triangle Yard is a 31-storey residential tower that is expected to be completed in 2026. The tower will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom "luxury" apartments. | Iconic

3. The Core
The Core, on the Headrow in Leeds city centre, is currently being demolished to make room for new student accommodation. The new development will feature three red-brick buildings connected by glazed bridge crossings and separated by new pedestrian streets. The site is expected to be completed by 2028. | Iconic Photo: Simon Hulme

4. South Bank New Town
In March, plans for a new town at Leeds' South Bank with upwards of 13,000 homes was announced. Part of a Government housebuilding scheme, the town will include new neighbourhoods with shared green spaces and a "vibrant" high street. A public consultation on proposed locations and draft planning policy is open until Monday, May 18. | Leeds City Council

5. Elland Road redevelopment
Perhaps the most talked about development in the city, work has begun on the expansion of Leeds United's home stadium. Once completed, capacity at the stadium will be expanded from 37,645 to roughly 53,000 seats. The project was approved in January and is expected to be completed by 2030. | Iconic Photo: James Hardisty

6. Lisbon Street
One of the newest developments to be greenlit, the former Leeds International Swimming Pool site is set to be transformed into a 200-room, sustainable "hometel". The development will feature an in-house café and bar as well as events space, gym, and laundry services. Construction is set to begin in May, with a target completion date of spring 2028. | Iconic/DLA Architecture
