Karen Wright: On the move for a fresh start of city living!

After weeks of uncertainty, we finally moved home! In my life I have bought and sold nine different homes.

The first home that I bought was purchased while I was still in my teens and it cost me the sum of £3,200, and that was back in 1974.

Hopefully the latest home that has been purchased is my forever home and I can finally settle down.

We have made the move from our home, which was in south Wakefield and moved into the city – well it will actually be a ten minute walk into town.

The property we have bought is a spacious ground floor apartment situated in an old building, which does in fact boast a blue plaque.

As a member of the Wakefield Civic Society this pleases me greatly.

I am still surrounded by boxes and bags full of so much clobber that has been accumulated by me over the years and the task of finding places to store the things that I have awaits, although there is plenty of cupboard space to work with.

I am now looking forward to getting back into the groove of things with my cooking and my baking and also taking on more commissions and generally getting myself back into my usual routine.

I am also looking forward to having walks into the town and taking part in more of the things that are going on around and about the city and making the most of the facilities that we have available to us around here.

I must get back to the routine of going to the swimming pool as I have really let that slip these last few months and I do find it very relaxing and also very therapeutic to do a few lengths of the pool a couple of times a week.

I usually use the Sun Lane Leisure Centre and it is going to be so accessible to me now following the move that I can just walk there, and if I choose I can indulge myself in a little retail therapy while I am at it.

So there we are.

These are the stresses and worries that are hopefully all behind me now, as I settle myself down as a Wakefield city dweller once again.
