Major Leeds brownfield site set for transformation with 43 new homes
The site has been vacant since 2023
Plans are being drawn up for 43 new affordable homes on a vacant brownfield site in Leeds.
Property developer Breck Homes has completed the unconditional purchase of land on Arthur Street, Stanningley, which formed part of the former Infinity Metals recycling centre.
The site has been vacant since 2023 and is now set to be transformed into a mix of new homes.
The proposed development will include one and two-bedroom apartments alongside two and three-bedroom houses.

Breck Homes is currently in talks with affordable housing providers about acquiring the homes once the development is completed.
Before a detailed planning application is submitted to Leeds City Council, the developer will carry out a public consultation with local stakeholders.
Nigel Robson, managing director – Yorkshire at Breck Homes, said the purchase was the latest step in the company's expansion across the region.

He said: “This acquisition is the next step of our growth journey in Yorkshire as we continue to transform areas of high-demand through affordable housing.
“The development of brownfield sites such as this plays a key role in addressing West Yorkshire’s housing need.
“We want to ensure our scheme maximises the benefits for all residents in the local community, so we will now take the time to engage with all local stakeholders before submitting plans formally.”

The Stanningley scheme is Breck Homes' sixth development in Yorkshire.
The company is already working with affordable housing provider Incommunities on three live developments in Bradford, which will deliver a combined 107 homes.
In August, Breck secured planning permission for 120 affordable homes at the former Lloyds data and contact centre in Pudsey.
Construction on the Pudsey scheme is expected to begin later this year.
The developer has also completed the purchase of a four-acre site in East Bierley, where it plans to build around 70 affordable homes.
Last summer, Breck bought a 4,400 sq ft office at Millshaw Park Industrial Estate, near Leeds, as it looked to expand its presence across Yorkshire.
