Leeds street officially named the most festive in the UK this Christmas - top five list revealed

As Christmas approaches ever closer, the most festive streets in the United Kingdom have now been revealed.

As many start the daunting thought process of taking down their Christmas decorations in a matter of weeks, there are accolades for a number of those illuminated streets across the country this year.

With over 76,000 Brits having searched for ‘Christmas activity’ over the past 30 days as they look for ways to celebrate the festivities, it’s lead to many taking to their vehicles in search of that most luminous, fetching Christmas décor adorning houses and streets up and down the UK.

But research undertaken by mobility experts SIXT, based on the volumes of Google search traffic for areas that are regarded as being just that little bit more seasonal than others, has ranked the top five this year - and one street in particular that came out on top is right here in Leeds.

Stone Brig Lane in Rothwell has been announced as the most festive street in the country this year, with 153,000 searches over the last 30 days alone, and according to SIXT’s study, has seen an increase in searches by 13% this year, owing to it’s regular status as one of the most colourful festive streets in previous years - something the Yorkshire Evening Post has known about since 2019.

Comments on Facebook about the location have previously described it as “an amazing street” and “absolutely the best community lights in this entire country,” with the area being considered to have that “magical atmosphere” that comes with this time of year.

Coming in second on the list is Prestonpans in Scotland, with a search volume of 38,000, while rounding out the final three places in the top five comes Chestnut Drive in Greater Manchester (7k), Kings Grove, also in Greater Manchester (6k), with London’s Lower Morden Lane placing fifth with 2,000 Google searches over the course of the last month.
