Safest places to live in Yorkshire: Latest crime stats show areas with the highest and lowest burglary rates

How likely is your home to be burgled?

The answer depends on where you live, with a huge variation in burglary rates across the country.

The latest statistics show how much crime rates, including burglary, vary across England, and within Yorkshire.

On average, across England, there were 6.3 residential burglaries recorded per 1,000 households during the year ending in December 2025.

The national crime rate during the same period, the latest for which figures have been published by the Office for National Statistics, was 83.5 offences per 1,000 population.

The burglary rate in some areas of Yorkshire is more than double that in other parts of the region, with a similar disparity when it comes to the overall crime rate.

Burglary can be one of the most distressing crimes. It’s not just about the belongings that are stolen, but the knowledge someone has invaded your personal space, often while you slept, and been through your things.

Below are the burglary rates for areas across Yorkshire, during the year ending in December 2025, listed from lowest to highest.

Where does your area rank on the list, and how safe do you feel where you live?
