But they may not stay that way for long, with house prices in some of these areas having shot up by more than 10% in a year, at a time when the property market elsewhere has stagnated.
There are 14 places across the county, including neighbourhoods in North Yorkshire, East Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire, where the average house costs less than £100,000.
In two of those areas, the average house price is below £80,000 - less than a third of the £272,995 UK-wide average.
Despite the low house prices, property values in many of those neighbourhoods have been rising fast.
In Loftus and Skinningrove, between Staithes and Saltburn-by-the-Sea, on the east coast, in Redcar and Cleveland, the average house price soared by 12.4% between March 2024 and March 2025, the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics show.
In Bransholme Central, Hull, it rose by 11% during the same period, and in Grangetown, near Middlesbrough, it shot up by 11.1%.
While Loftus and Skinningrove remains one of Yorkshire’s more deprived areas, it has benefited from considerable regeneration in recent years, and residents love the fantastic community spirit and the idyllic setting, with stunning beaches and beautiful country walks on your doorstep.
Bransholme is becoming more popular thanks to its friendly community, green spaces and range of amenities, while more homebuyers are considering Grangetown because of its affordable housing and good community spirit.
